Jerome M. Katz and George T. Dougherty, both graduates of Rutgers University School of Law (Newark), were colleagues in the office of the NJ Attorney General in the late 1960's. They formed a partnership in 1971 and, with the support of associates, paralegals and administrative assistants, continue to serve their clients throughout New Jersey from offices conveniently located in the greater Princeton -- Trenton area
Jerome M. Katz:
Jerome Katz, a graduate of Rutgers University, B.A. 1964, and the Rutgers University School of Law (Newark) Juris Doctor, 1967, was sworn in as Deputy Attorney General of the State of New Jersey (1967 to 1970) and served from 1970 to 1999 as Chief Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Trenton. After forming his partnership with George Dougherty in 1971, Mr. Katz became counsel to the New Jersey Cemetery Association and to the Mercer County Board of Realtors. He has devoted a substantial part of his career to the practice of cemetery law, real estate and business law, concentrating in complex business transactions.George T. Dougherty
George Dougherty, B.A. Cum Laude Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1965, Juris Doctor, Rutgers University School of Law (Newark) 1968; was Law Secretary to the Hon. Thomas S. O'Brien and Hon.Arthur J. Simpson, (presently retired judges of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division). In 1969 he was sworn in as Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, Division of Criminal Justice, and thereafter served as Assistant City Attorney (1971 to 1975) and City Attorney (1975 to 1990) of the City of Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey. Thereafter he was appointed Township Attorney for the Township of Lawrence, Mercer County, New Jersey (1992 to 1996). Mr. Dougherty has been general counsel to the Trenton Parking Authority, and is a Member of the Board and past Chairman of the State Bar Association Local Government Law Section.Mr. Dougherty's career has concentrated heavily in all areas of governmental law including land use (zoning and planning), eminent domain (condemnation), employment (disciplinary matters, harassment, civil rights and discrimination), and right to know (freedom of information). He has undertaken a number of prominent causes, pro bono publico on behalf of Trenton citizen groups, to challenge actions by local government. In addition, he provides labor relations services for individual governmental and private employees. In addition to his service to numerous New Jersey cemeteries and their operators, Mr. Dougherty is active in many areas of litigation, most particularly in matters concerning defective homes and actively supervises all areas of litigation within the firm, including matrimonial, construction employment and consumer fraud litigation.
Joseph C. Falk
Joseph C. Falk is a graduate of the Quinnipiac School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut (2004). Before joining Katz and Dougherty in 2008, Mr. Falk was a solo practitioner in the Law Office of Joseph C. Falk, in Lawrenceville and Pennington, NJ. His earlier experiences were with the Law Offices of Kenneth J. Ginnsberg in Monroe, Connecticut. Mr. Falk is a member of the Mercer County and the NJ Bar Associations. In addition to being a New Jersey licensed real estate salesperson, Mr. Falk's professional career has been focused on real estate law, family law, and estate planning & administration.Jack A. Butler
Jack A. Butler is a graduate of Auburn University (B.A., 2003) and Georgia State University (J.D., 2009). Prior to joining the firm, he was law clerk to the Hon. F. Lee Forrester, J.S.C., during which time he also assisted the Hon. Robert C. Billmeier, J.S.C. While in law school he worked for Mary A. Miller and Associates in Atlanta, Georgia and the Muscogee County District Attorney’s Office as a Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council Summer Fellow. He is licensed in New Jersey and Georgia and is a member of both State Bar Associations. His practice currently focuses on municipal and employment law and issues surrounding consumer fraud.Office Staff
